The work I expected to do this morning diidn't materialize, so I took the newly-found day outside with B and did a quick fall cleanup around the grounds. Everything's spiky and clean-cut now, with a thick cozy bed of leaves which I hope will stick around. We're supposed to have thunderstorms tonight; I hope at least a little rain comes before the wind blows all the leaves down the street.
The one sure way to fight off the autumn blues: plant lots of bulbs. Either there'll be a lovely display for us all next spring, or I've just given the squirrels their last good meal of the season. Both are fine with me.
