Well, the shoe dryer thingy seems to have worked pretty well. It's the first time we've used the thing; we got it for xmas a bunch of years ago but never took it out of its case. It's a ridiculous item, but it's performed its one trick pretty well, I think. The shoes seem to be dry and don't smell. I still put them up in the sun for a while just to make sure they don't go funky. That happened two pairs before this one, and it's not something I want to repeat.
